Bet Types at R855: Singles, Accumulators, Systems and Handicaps

Bet types are not just labels on the bet slip. Each one changes three things at once: how much you actually stake, how the odds combine, and what happens to the money when a selection is void. The examples below use riel and decimal odds; at the unofficial rate of around 4,100 riel to the dollar, a 10,000-riel stake is roughly two and a half dollars. Nothing here describes R855's own limits — minimum and maximum stakes are set by the operator and shown on the bet slip.

Single bets: one pick, one result

A single backs one outcome. The return is the stake multiplied by the decimal odds: 10,000 riel at 2.10 returns 21,000 riel if it wins, and nothing if it loses. If the event is void, the stake comes back in full. Singles are the easiest bet type to track, which is why they are the right place to start and the right format for anyone keeping a strict budget. Every settled single shows in your history with its own bet ID, so a disputed result is simple to trace.

Accumulator bets: odds multiply, risk multiplies

An accumulator (also called a parlay or multi) links several selections into one ticket. Their odds are multiplied: three picks at 1.80, 1.70 and 2.00 give total odds of 6.12, so 10,000 riel would return 61,200 riel — but only if every leg wins. One loss ends the ticket. When a leg is void it normally counts at 1.00 and the ticket continues at the reduced odds. Bookmakers like accumulators because their margin is applied to every leg and therefore compounds; a short ticket with two or three picks keeps that compounding in check.

System bets: paying for cover

A system bet places several accumulators and doubles at once from the same picks. With three selections, a "Trixie" is three doubles plus one treble — four bets in total — and a "Patent" adds the three singles for seven bets. The unit stake is multiplied by the number of bets, so the total cost is larger than it looks on the selection screen. In return, one wrong pick does not wipe out everything. Always read the total stake line on the bet slip before confirming a system bet.

Handicap and over/under markets

A handicap gives one side a virtual head start or deficit. In football the Asian handicap removes the draw, and quarter lines split the stake across two neighbouring lines, so a result can return half a win or half the stake. In basketball the point spread works the same way in points. Whole-number lines can push, which refunds the stake.

The over/under (totals) market ignores the winner and asks whether goals, points or games finish above or below a line. Half lines always settle as a win or a loss; whole lines can be refunded when the total lands exactly on the number. Totals suit bettors who have a view on how a game will be played rather than who will win it.

Choosing a bet type that fits your budget

Match the format to the plan, not to the size of the possible return. Singles keep each decision separate and every loss small. Short accumulators add excitement at a known cost. System bets protect against one bad pick but multiply the stake. Whatever you choose, keep the total for the week inside the amount you set aside in riel or dollars before you deposited, and never combine selections just to reach a target return.

Bet types FAQ

What happens to an accumulator if one leg is void?
Under most settlement rules the void leg is treated as if it had odds of 1.00, so it drops out and the rest of the ticket carries on at lower total odds. If every leg but one is void, the ticket effectively becomes a single. The rule is the bookmaker's, so check R855's sportsbook settlement section for the exact wording.
Is a system bet safer than an accumulator?
It is more forgiving, not safer. A system bet covers several smaller combinations, so one losing pick does not sink everything — but you pay for that cover with a higher total stake. A 'Trixie' on three picks, for example, is four bets, so a 5,000-riel unit stake costs 20,000 riel.
Which bet type should a beginner start with?
Singles. One selection, one stake, one result, and the return is simply stake times decimal odds. Singles make it easy to keep records and to see whether your choices are any good before combinations multiply both the odds and the ways to lose.
